Amid the China-US Trade War, Indian Construction Machinery Expands Export Market

As geopolitical tensions continue to reshape global supply chains, Indian construction machinery manufacturers are seizing the opportunity to expand their international market share. Among them, India’s ACE Construction Equipment is actively capitalizing on export opportunities arising from the China-US trade friction.

Ajay Malik, Head of International Business at ACE, stated, “The restructuring of global trade routes has created unprecedented opportunities for Indian exporters, particularly in the high-value-added construction machinery sector. ACE views this shift as strong evidence of India’s rising status as a reliable manufacturing hub.” The company’s product line includes mobile cranes, truck-mounted cranes, tower cranes, crawler cranes, as well as pile drivers, backhoe loaders, road construction equipment, and vibratory compactors.

Malik noted that as the US seeks to diversify its supply chains and reduce dependence on Chinese manufacturing, Indian companies are increasingly being seen as viable alternatives. This transformation is supported by national strategies such as “Make in India”—a policy that encourages businesses to develop, manufacture, and assemble products in India through incentives like tax benefits, while stimulating large-scale investments in the manufacturing sector.

“Our business now covers 42 countries, demonstrating the market’s trust in our stable deliveries, innovative capabilities, and cost advantages,” Malik added. “The current landscape is not just about short-term gains but represents a long-term strategic opportunity for India to lead the restructuring of global industrial chains.”

According to The Economic Times, benefiting from the government’s infrastructure-driven growth plan, India’s construction machinery industry sales grew by 26% year-on-year in FY2023-24, reaching 135,650 units. Data from the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) shows that industry sales in the previous fiscal year stood at 107,779 units. Analysts believe that the government’s infrastructure-oriented development policies, coupled with accelerated project progress ahead of elections, have driven growth across all five major segments of the construction machinery sector.
